#NewsUpdate The National Water Commission (NWC) says that customers in Breadnut Hill and surrounding areas of St Ann are now without regular water supply after thieves Thursday night made off with over 600 feet of electrical service wires. Replacing the stolen wires will cost in excess of $1 million, the NWC said in a release Friday. According to the NWC this latest incident comes on the heels of vandalism and theft of electrical wires and other pumping accessories at the commission’s Bridgewater facility, also in St Ann, three times in six months. Questions have been raised in Trinidad & Tobago about the salary being paid to Michael Dilollo, Chief Executive Officer of Caribbean Airlines (CAL). Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar on Thursday revealed in Parliament that Mr. Dilollo earns US$30,000 per month. Jack Warner, MP for Chaguanas West, sought answers from Mrs Persad-Bissessar during the Prime Minister’s question and answer time. He pressed the Prime Minister, asking whether the airline could afford such a hefty salary, given its current financial standing. Outstanding forensic reports have further stalled the case of the two inmates charged in connection with the death of 31-year-old construction worker Mario Deane. The case against Marvin Orr and Adrian Morgan was again called up in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate’s Court today. In addition to the absence of the reports, the court was also informed that additional documents such as a duty roster and medical history have not been served on the defence. As the controversy rages over the purchase of the privately owned Outameni property by the National Housing Trust (NHT) Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller has announced that she will address the matter of the composition of the NHTs Board on Monday. A statement from Jamaica House on Friday afternoon said, following the weekly Cabinet meeting on Monday, the Prime Minister will make an announcement about the future of the NHTs Board. According to the OPM statement, Mrs. Simpson Miller acknowledged that the current public debate surrounding the acquisition of the Outameni property has resulted in the resignation of some NHT Board members. It added that the Government wants to ensure that the NHT fulfills its mandate of, among other things, increasing and improving the existing supply of housing and prudently administering and investing the Trusts funds.
