I see a lot of hype about detecting genius at a very young age. All good except... Im not sure its the process of getting geniuses to actually materialize what they have inside. Not sure Im being clear here... So heres an example. I havent produced genius work yet, but my sculpture is ok/has potential and Im not sure I would be creating art if my artistic abilities had been discovered at a very young age. Its been very obvious to me that I am on my way to something because Ive had to struggle and fight for being able to keep doing what I love. Before 2005 I was lost and unhappy. Also, all the encounter with people who tried to put me down etc... Truth is, is built up a huuuuuuge drive in me. And when I finally found my passion, then BOOM. Also we constatntly see examples of very young athletes who perform so well, then drop out entirely as they reach their 20s. Because, what they do is not aligned with life anymore. Being consummed by what you do is great when you are passionate about it. When you arent, its sacrifice. So back to very young age. Its ok to feel thrilled about discovering genius, but the mandatory element to catalyse it is (and I hate to say it) putting it to test through struggle and challenges. Holding people by the hand is not the way in my opinion. Thoughts of the day.. :)
