I see a lot of people claiming that Fox News sued for the right to lie and distort the news. I never posted anything about it since I couldnt find any reputable sources to substantiate it. I found the actual appeal. Heres the deal. The court found that the FCC’s news distortion policy is not a “law, rule, or regulation” under section 448.102. The court did rule that while the FCC has a rule against distortion, it is not enforceable as a law would be. You can, however, file a whistle blower complaint if you get fired for threatening to expose them for trying to distort the news. Fox News did not go to court for permission to lie and distort the news. This was a small affiliate of theirs who was taken to court by a couple of former employees that they had fired.
