I see a lot of posting regarding vaccines, both for and against, and I have been meaning to blog about it but the one thing I will posit right now is that this debate is an outgrowth of a larger question, and that question is as follows: Is there reason to mistrust a medical establishment which exists in a market paradigm and which is susceptible to market forces? I think the vaccine debate is just one facet of that larger question. If you look at the history of the medical establishment there have been many instances where COMPETITIVE DESELECTION has led to practices which were detrimental to patients.* And although this track record isnt in and of itself damning to the credibility of vaccines, we would be foolish to think that past mistakes, errors and deliberate malfeasance couldnt happen again. So everybody should keep an open mind, not call each other idiots, and focus on what YOU can do, not what everybody else should do. *If someone would like me to dredge up a list of examples, please feel free to ask
