I see many people posting about the ALS #icebucketchallenge and the alsa.org - While I understand the concern about the amount of money used for actual research funding, the amount of water used to propel the challenge, the injuries that may or may not have happened during the challenge... the fact of the matter is this... Today, more people are aware of what ALS is and what it does to the person with the disease and their family and friends. WATCH THIS VIDEO --> https://youtube/watch?v=oxoBl5zZgNM Today, more people than ever have donated to VARIOUS organizations in support of ALS... and while we would love to find a cure... funding is also needed to help patients live longer and have better quality of life... so some money needs to go to patient care. Money is needed to promote awareness and to operate various organizations. Money doesnt grow on trees and neither does the time and efforts of people working for the organizations. Today, more people have the right to research and choose which organization they donate to. If you dont believe in the methods of research used by alsa.org then donate to a different charity that you know will help find a cure or help others while still using the etichal/moral standards you have set for your family/self. I am happy to read the posts about what others have to say and are posting regarding the challenge, but it is important to not only read the article but also to look at the information present that provides facts for us so we can make choices to donate and to one day find a way to knock out a disease that kills people each and every day. Stepping down from my soap box and going to put on my #nowhiteflags t-shirt that I proudly wear in support of teamgleason.org - I was able to donate to this organization as a part of a golf tournament, purchasing t-shirts, running/walking in virtual events, and by clicking on the link to their website. I raise awareness by posting #nowhiteflags images on my vehicle, my refridgerator, my social media posts, and in my everyday conversations.
