I see this childish behavior quite a bit in my workplace...a place where you would expect people to be and act professionally. Many scavengers competing to get to the top, so you have to watch your back. You wouldnt want to be better than them at anything, thats for sure. Well, actually, I did see one member get to the top pretty quickly and I wondered how she did it! Turns out when youre on top of the boss you get special treatment ;) I dont chum around with these people...had to stop going on coffee breaks with them because all they do is talk about everyone else. I guess Im not up to their level :) I am of the belief that we help others and lift them up, not put them down. Besides, I was never in competition with anyone but myself. I dont feel I need to make others look bad so that I look good. Im just me. Never gonna change for anyone.
