I sent out a series of emails to Caribbean Island governments. Now, say I and Knowledge is 1, so did I do this just to become famous if it worked? Because, I know I cant pedal enough bikes to power all those places... Am I going to take all the credit? No. On behalf of Knowledge 1 ALL-ah :D Haiti Task Team Tue, Oct 28, 2014 at 11:10 AM To: hbj2006@gmail Dear Hamlet, Thank you for your email and sharing your proposal to use alternative power generated by bicycles in Haiti. To familiarize yourself with our work in Haiti, the following resources will be extremely useful: First, the USAID Haiti website: usaid.gov/where-we-work/latin-american-and-caribbean/haiti Additionally, let us refer you to the overall country strategy for U.S. Government assistance in Haiti. You can find it at: state.gov/documents/organization/156448.pdf. Next, let us describe how to access USAID funding. All organizations that wish to solicit funding from USAID can visit usaid.gov/partnerships. In essence, by law and Agency policy, most of our funding is awarded following competitive processes, wherein USAID invites bidders or applicants to submit proposals responding to specific, defined development outcomes. After a somewhat lengthy technical and cost / value analysis, the winners are awarded a contract or grant. Only rarely are we able to fund unsolicited proposals, if the service or product is unique, will help further USAIDs approved country strategy and, of course, if we have sufficient funds. More information can be found here: usaid.gov/partnership-opportunities/respond-solicitation. All groups and organizations are advised to consult the FEDBIZOPS website in order to learn what solicitations for bids/proposals are being sought and how to submit a proposal either in response to those requests for bids. Competitive announcements are also publicized at fbo.gov and grants.gov. USAID also encourages fund seekers to consider working with NGO partners in Haiti. You can find a comprehensive list of organizations working in various sectors across Haiti on InterActions website: interaction.org/member-directory ; ngoaidmap.org/location/78? In particular, the Haiti Task Team recommends that you seek additional resources through the Annual Program Statement program. Further information about the program can be found at these websites: federalgrants/Annual-Program-Statement-for-Local-Partners-and-US-PVOs-45104.html grants.gov/web/grants/search-grants.html?keywords=SOL-521-14-000027 Many thanks for your interest in building a brighter future for Haiti. With best wishes and warmest regards, The Haiti Task Team ______________________ Sent email to white house Hi, I just wanted to suggest an idea for alternative power that could be generated at schools. It is possible to generate electricity via bicycle generators, see proven of concept here: m.youtube/results?q=bicycle%20generator%20alternator&sm=1 emersonnetworkpower/EN-US/PRODUCTS/DCPOWER/ENSYS_BATTERIESANDACCESSORIES/Pages/default.aspx bicycle generator build videos https://youtube/results?search_query=bicycle+generator+alternator If implemented properly at public schools and even colleges, it would be possible for students to exercise and generate electricity. The power generated could equate to a form of monetary unity, which students could use to pay tuition and costs of living. The facility will have a connection to the city power grid, and will be accessible 24/365 in order for power generation to occur. Facilities could also have additional power supplied from solar panels. The concept could also assist in job creation for people who would want to bike or run to generate power. Increasing minimum wage would be great as it would help people to be able to purchase good health foods (preferably vegan) which would also help farmers (both in the Caribbean islands and other countries) to grow and sell their crops. Facility will also serve vegetarian based health foods at a reasonable cost and be heart healthy. Each exercise bike or treadmill will have tablet PC mounts so that participants can watch educational videos to further enhance their education and make them more marketable in the job market.
