I share the same African ancestor (William Lee, supposedly born in - TopicsExpress

I share the same African ancestor (William Lee, supposedly born in Madagascar) as some of my cousins, who dont accept that theyre of African origin. Ive researched this line for nearly 20 years, taking it all the way back to when William Lee came into what would become Canada, in the late 1700s, and on nearly every record, hes listed as either black, Negro, of colour, or African origin. Now, theyre questioning my research (bless their hearts), and have even suggested that I got my (skin) color from one of the black women Williams grandson married (but Williams grandson only married two white women). As a professional genealogist, I knew to research the lines of the other William Lees who lived in the same area, and have conclusive proof, from a WIDE variety of sources that, yup, our William Lee was black. I have suggested my male cousin take a DNA test of the Y-chromosome, the results of which, unless papa had help along the way, will be identical to the Y-chromosome results of my father and brothers. However, methinks he wont take the test, as it will be irrefutable proof that, yes, they ARE of African descent. For now, they continue to be in denial, which I respect and fully understand. I wish them both well and send them my unconditional love.
