Reintroducing the wolves: Nature is as fragile as it is formidable. The wolves transformed not only the ecosystem, but the behavior of the rivers. The regenerating forests stabilized the banks and vegetation recovery. Bare valley sides quickly became forests of aspen, willow, and cottonwood. Just as soon, the number of songbirds increased. As well as beavers and their dams, providing habitats for muskrats, ducks, fish, reptiles and amphibians. Also: rabbits, mice, hawks, weasels, foxes, ravens, eagles.
