I sit and face Keckwick Hill every day. To the right is the Water Tower. The land around here now is mostly built on over the past decades with new town residential and industrial builds. When I was younger most of it was woodlands and farms and the Water Tower sat in the midst of it with country lanes leading to it. Many family walks and picnics to it and indeed to Keckwick Hill. At the best of there was a Poplar Farm and the strawberry fields and we would go in as children and eat ourselves silly stuffed with strawberries. I remember one year their was vintage car rally that went to the Water Tower as a meeting point. We caught it during a country walk and all the owners of the cars were dressed up in period costume as well. Then there were clear lines of divides between the new town that had starte to form from the overflow from the two main cities of Liverpool and Manchester and to establish in places like Runcorn and to other intermediate towns still clearly separated by the countryside. Now there is not much worth talking about.
