I spent about 12 years helping parolees find work and was pretty successful as soon as I made employers aware of two excellent programs! Many major employers in this state now know about the Tax Credit program and routinely state this on their employment application forms! This tax credit program allows employers to get BACK part of the persons paycheck for a number of months in order to reward them for giving the person a chance! The second is a federal bonding program in which the federal government GUARANTEES that should the employer suffer a loss from this employee, the government will cover that loss. BE SURE TO TAKE BOTH FORMS IN WITH YOU TO ATTACH TO YOUR APPLICATIONS!!! Dont just assume the employer knows about it. STAPLE IT TO YOUR APP!!! A. Federal Bonding Program The Federal Bonding Program provides fidelity bonding insurance coverage to individuals with criminal histories and other high-risk job applicants who are qualified, but fail to get jobs because regular commercial bonding is denied due to their backgrounds. B. Tax Credits The Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) is a federal tax credit to reduce the federal tax liability of private for profit employers to be used as an incentive for employers to hire individuals from eight different targeted groups: TANF recipients, veterans, ex-felons, high risk youth, summer youth, Food Stamp recipients, SSI recipients, and vocational rehabilitation referrals.
