I spent some time with this book over the last couple of weeks, and it has enlightened me greatly on my own fathers years of silence regarding his days in the Navy. He enlisted in 1939, survived the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941 and served aboard the USS Honolulu until the War in the Pacific ended in 1945. He went on to be a working man, husband, father and grandfather. He left his wartime experiences in the past, and focused on making the best possible future for himself and his family. On this day of remembrance, I pray all our Veterans live long and happy lives...and I thank them for giving me the means to do the same.
