I spoke with Tony Ybarra, biologist with the Silver City District of the Forest Service about the fire, which is suspected to be human caused. While working with the Spotted Owls on Sunday, we found evidence of camp fires outside established camping areas. At this time, the Signal Peak Spotted Owl pair are almost certainly lost. Others remain in jeopardy, particularly the Black Peak pair. Lets hope for low winds today and progress on the fire lines.
