I stirred from my slumber, woken by my automoton whirring and vibrating alerting me of a message it had received from one of my other automatons. I wave my hand in front of the scrying screen. The bright, magically appearing letters form message: one of my automatons was alerting my that there is a catastrophic error in our arcane scrying network. Disabling the mages and other agents in our network from reaching into the ether and gathering knowledge. This needs to be resolved immediately. I rub my eyes as I head to my personal Mage workshop in my home. One of the lesser mages must have done something to bring down our scrying pool. I place my hands over the rune keys, strange arcane markings that allow me to manipulating the ether, traversing the universe and see right into the mages library in the guild hall. My fingers weave arcane symbols and a spell is unleashed, allowing my to probe the various automatons and energy conduits that make up our communication network. One of the key automatons was not responding to my commands. Had it lost power? Did it need to be replaced? This is my day off. I had plans. I cast another spell, a communication spell, sending a message to my fellow mages, asking for assistance. I cast a few more spells trying to determine the cause of the outage. My screen alerts me of a message from one of my fellow mages. Planned network outage. Forgot to email you. Go back to sleep. Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. Arthur C. Clarke One our domain controllers went down for planned maintenance but it wasnt on my maintenance schedule. I get an alert from my altering system saying its down. I remote in and it is down. Send an email to the network admin and he just didnt tell me about the downtime. I am a modern day Mage.
