I stumbled upon this image of Rusty Wehner and I (Getty images - imagine that!). Someone from The Denver Post asked which students had gone to all four of the voluntary Saturday make-up sessions during (after?) the Denver Public Schools teachers strike (Park Hill Elementary). Rusty and I were rewarded with having our photograph in the newspaper. When Remy and I were in Denver this summer visiting my sister, we were in line getting coffees one afternoon, and this guy behind me (calling me maam) asked if I had ordered. I turned around and voila - there was Rusty... (OMG - I never thought Id have any type of homage to Rusty Wehner - but I guess I am - the boy who brought me to tears numerous times in junior and senior high school calling me Fuzztop, - ARG - and who, with Eric, Keith and sometimes Ron, threw hard ice/snow balls at Lynne, Amy and I walking home from school - year after year... dunking us during swim team practices at the Y - being one of the few guys to take modern dance senior year...) How unexpected to have you at my moms memorial in 2009 talking about streaking past her in 1978 at East High (which, as you know, was one of her favorite memories of her childrens school years)... Heres to making friends with enemies (or mean boys), and various types of connecting throughout the years - from paper mache dinosaurs, to trick or treating and hot chocolates with parents, to swimming pools and snowy landscapes, to weddings, memorials, and summer Starbucks...
