I submitted this to the City of Phoenix Police Complaint line just now: Id like to make a complaint about these two officers (highly paid Sgts, in fact) standing around for no purpose other than to harass my friends and I during a memorial service for a fellow Occupy activist who recently passed away. The memorial was on Sunday 7/13/2014 from appx 8:30-10pm at Cesar Chavez Plaza. It was profoundly disrespectful of these two cops to be chit-chatting across the street from us with their strobe lights flashing through the night, while there was absolutely no criminal or suspicious activity occurring at that location the entire time they disrupted our service. As I explained to the officer at the time, what they chose to do instead of leave (or even step back or shut off their lights) was akin to me lurking around a PPD funeral service with a black hoodie and bandanna on, holding up a sign saying F**k the Police! for all the dead officers friends and family to see. Now see why these guys pissed me off so much? I suppose this is now what the PHX activist community can expect from the PHX PD - petty harassment since we wont fall for your informants bait or collaborate with your provocateurs.
