I suggest while we are at it and since it is a known fact that Casinos bring bad characters into this town that we also should start looking at the negative effects of the Saratoga Racetrack, which brings an even higher degree of crime to a community like ours, as compared to a casino. Word is that they want to expand the racing meet here longer to offset its losses. Let us also petition the Governor to stop subsidizing the NYRA to the tune of $20 million a year of taxpayers money that mainly goes towards the Saratoga Track. We have had multiple rapes around this city due to the characters that have been directly or indirectly brought to this community because of the racetrack, many of them being illegal aliens. Let us not discriminate that one type of gambling is better than the other, they all have negative effects. I will personally contribute $5,000 of my own money to draw up a petition to no longer subsidize the corrupt NYRA, and also to keep casinos out of our overpriced city. I am tired of the criminal elements that they all bring, I am tired of all the traffic here in the summer, and I am tired of the rise in real estate associated with the summer buyers that own here for the track season. Middle class Saratogians can no longer afford to purchase property in our beloved city. It was bad enough when we had 4 weeks of racing, not it is over 6 weeks of hell and misery that we have to endure. I don’t bet at the track, nor do most Saratogians bet there. I hear from a good source that the track may not be financially viable in a few more years, maybe we can speed up its demise. Hopefully the Governor now knowing how Saratogians feel about this issue will also now stop subsidizing the track. Gambling is gambling and I say, lets end it all.
