I swear I will be late to MY own funeral and I’m being cremated! - TopicsExpress

I swear I will be late to MY own funeral and I’m being cremated! As always I seem to leave everything to the last minute. We adopted 10 of Corrie’s residents and today is their Christmas party. I was still wrapping the gifts at 9:15 a.m.. As I was going through my wrapping paper, boxes and bags that I recycle from Christmas’ past, I found one that would be perfect for two pairs of sweat pants that one resident asked for, I unfold it and begin to put a tag on it and there is my baby’s handwriting. I couldn’t breathe, I could hear the blood rushing though my ears, and there went the mascara. It said: “To Elena I (she drew a heart) you, Aunt Corrie”. So I went from having an o.k. morning to plummeting into my bad place of sadness. I threw the bag out…….8 times and 8 times I picked it back out. So now I put it in the garage until I check with Brian to see if he wants to keep it for Puddin’ Pie’s book of memories. I managed to finish wrapping the gifts and as I loaded them into the car, I broke out in cold chills. I think my Corrie was there with me. I know she is happy that her adopted grandparents were getting gifts. So I figured what the hell, and began talking to her. I told her I hate when I am unprepared for “Corrie Reminders” it is so hard to see them right now and I would appreciate it if she would give me a heads up. Just as I finished reading my baby girl the riot act, that dinga danga bag fell to the floor. Touché’ Mz. Thang, Touché’. I stopped in to see Corrie’s lovey dovey Irene and brought her a piece of apple pie and coconut cream pie because the last time we went to see her she said she really would rather have pie than my cookies. I tried to make the homemade crust I really did, but ended up buying pies for our dinner last Sunday. She was so excited and had a fork right there by her bedside, she took a bite of the coconut cream pie and looked at me, smiled and said it was really good for store bought! She made me laugh because she kept saying I like pie. She kept asking me questions about Corrie, telling me how Corrie would never just let her lie in bed, she always made her get her nails done, or go in the dining room for bingo or games. She said she misses my baby girl because every day she would come in and give her a kiss on her forehead and told Irene she loved her. Irene said she thinks of Corrie everyday because the picture Corrie put up of both of them on her closet door is right in front of her. That was too much for me and I told her I had to go but would be back and maybe by then I will learn how to make a homemade pie for her. She smiled and said she would be waiting for me. Before I left 3 people stopped me and asked how I was doing and all three told me that Corrie and I could be sisters we looked so much alike. Bet that made little missy a tad p.o.’d!! I hate to type this but it seemed today I was able to come out of the bad sad place quicker than in the past. Just sayin’ and that’s all I’m going to say on that matter . I wish these sweet older people had more Corrie’s in their lives. There were a dozen of them in the hallways in their wheelchairs, some sleeping, some holding their little white haired heads in their hands none of them smiled. When did it become o.k. to throw away beautiful souls like the elderly? They were moms and dads, grandparents, they held jobs, they went to Christmas parties, probably float trips, held neighborhood barbeques. They were just like you and me at one time. I really hope the Lord takes me before Brian has to make that decision on which home to put me in. Thank you Belle, for loving these people unconditionally. I LOVE YOU TO HEAVEN AND BACK BABY GIRL. 1 Peter 4:10 - Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. 1 Corinthians 12:4-6 - Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. Exodus 35:10 - All who are skilled among you are to come and make everything the Lord has commanded. My challenge today is many of us bake Christmas cookies and make candy for parties and family. Make an extra batch or two. Buy a couple of throw blankets and bring the goodies and blanket to a resident. If you have smaller children, bring them with you, or if you have a dog that is well behaved (make sure you call the home first to make sure you can bring in the pet) bring them with you. These men and women love to see the little ones or the dogs to pet. It is an couple of hours out of your day to give joy to someone who may have been holding their heads in their hands right before you came in. If you have musical talent, whether it’s singing or playing an instrument, they love to hear music. Time and Talent, God blessed you with both so think about returning the blessing to someone else. God bless, LET GO LET GOD, Dimes, pink skies & stars, mismatched socks, magic rocks. lost crock pots, wet puppy dog smells, quiet time, holding hands, I LOVE YOU’s, 3 kisses, summer rains, strong daddies, HOPE, PB&J sandwiches, two handed hugs, double rainbows, wax paper art, Angel feathers, snorts of laughter, FAITH, FORGIVENESS, Butterfly kisses and Unicorns.
