I think a Yes vote in the Scots referendum is unlikely to happen - TopicsExpress

I think a Yes vote in the Scots referendum is unlikely to happen but the confusion of culture that exists within our Ulster Scots brethren is profound at the moment. The melange of Highland Gaelic and Lowland Scots culture adhered to by Ulster Scots is defined within an almost exclusive Presbyterian Protestantism which denies (generally) its Irish roots completely and (in my experience) never actively Includes anyone of the Roman Catholic section of Ulster folk. It also ignores the Pictish side of the Scottish makeup and history..most of us do....except Ian Adamson...That is not to say that all of its proponents are ignorant of these tendrils of our common DNA, just that the history of religio-political exploitation of cultures have drifted in the exclusivity direction over the past 20 years,as a response to Irish Gaelic culture from which many of them directly descend. Yep. The prospect of Scottish breakaway is interesting in its potential effects on relationship within the islands and maybe will generate debate and better recognition of the common cultures that link us all in some form or other. Heres an old Scottish Republican song....you may recognise the old Irish air it is sung to. m.youtube/watch?v=7zpk5FYeaDM
