I think getting married is probably one of the hardest decisions to ever make and picking your spouse. Not only do you have to look at someones Deen and character, as you should look for someone who will help you get closer to Allaah, help your eemaan and someone who will be good for you Dunya wa aakhirah, eemaan and Deen, someone who will help you towards jannah, but also someone who will be a good role model, a good parent to your children as their upbringing is crucial in determining the principles and Deen instilled in them from an early age. With marriages where you dont know your partner well, it can be the most nerve racking as you dont know what this person will be like, if youll get along etc but you leave your trust with Allaah, and keep making duaa that your spouse and you will be the coolness of each others eyes and the comfort of each others hearts. On top of that us as individuals have to keep working on being that kind of partner for our spouses. Its an ongoing learning curve and we only learn with time and experience. Whats important to remember is that each spouse must have patience and understanding with the other for their marriage to be successful as we all fall short in our duties as humans, in certain roles we have in our lives. Rtmf. There is so many things we may do wrong but all it takes is understanding from our spouses to help us climb back up after we fall. May Allaah put love, mercy and understanding in our marriages, and in our hearts for one another and may we be the coolness of our spouses eyes and they to us, may Allaah grant us pious righteous partners, someone who will be the best for our Deen and Dunya and eemaan and aakhirah and may the almighty bless us with god fearing pious righteous children who will be our gateway to jannah.
