I think if we and our powerful allies like the UK, Germany, France, Japan and Israel went to war with Russia conventionally we would spoon feed their asses to them. We are on the average 20 years ahead technologically in most respects.We are the masters of logistics, Our defense budget is larger than the next 20 richest nations combined, our troops have had over a decade of continuous training through war, (they were not originally trained in great numbers to fight insurgents (Iraq,Afghanistan) but performed way better than anyone else could in the same situation including Russia and China but our troops are highly trained to bulldoze any standard uniformed army with roses round it!) our Navy dominates the oceans, our air force, naval and marine air wings would quickly establish air superiority over Russia from every direction, north south, east and west. we have over 500 global military installations, in such diverse geographic area as Europe from the west, the middle east in the south, and east Asia) (Russia has only one of significance the Navy base in Syria which would be quickly dispatched) we wouldnt follow historical mistakes like Napoleon and the WW2 Germans did, we would not try to occupy it just destroy it beyond repair! what concerns me is what the other side would do and what they would launch after the colossal historical embarrassment in desperation to save face! I think China whom has a lot to lose with their rising economy so they would sit it out but maybe take advantage of the situation for near by territorial gains and perhaps North korea would take advantage of the distraction by invading South Korea or attempting anyway!So please for the sake of the planet Mr. Obama and Mr Kerry do not put on display your naivety, show common sense, be responsible, ethical and practice great diplomacy!
