I think it is nice and everything that the president of this university has decided to put out an email saying that this campus is committed in creating safe environments for students, yet they do not practice what they preach. As a person who is committed to dismantling structures of oppression I have personally reported both racist and homophobic discourse that I have seen on this campus. As a gay man I have personal reported homophobic slurs and instances of danger I have experienced to people on campus with power, yet nothing was done especially if the person was a student athlete. As an ally to victims of rape culture I have many friends that have to walk around this campus and see their attacker daily because the campus refuses to take the right action and require the attacker to leave campus. Again, they take an even lesser approach if the attacker was a student athlete. So, please do not send out bullshit emails when in reality this campus is in the business of protecting the students that bring money and acclaim to campus. Please do not send out a bullshit email to cover your asses since 6 ABC news was here and you want to seem like the safe campus again.
