I think its awful it has taken for someone who was so succesful to take their life for mental illness to be highlighted. Just goes to show nobody knows anything about anybody really and maybe people should have more empathy for people fighting this hard battle. Mind do an amazing job. Its thanks to them and their support for my mum wen she needed it that my mum can now support others who need help. She has just won an award for her volunteering and was invited to one of the Queens many thank you events with other volunteers who donate their time to help others. Mental illness comes in so many different forms and should be taken seriously. Nobody should be made to feel alone or unsupported because of an illness . A person suffering from mental illness should be given the same respect support and compassion as somebody suffering with a physical illness.Nobody really understands anything until you are directly involved and it takes full control of your life. I am so proud of my mum who has fought this terrible illness for 30 yrs . Anyone close to me will know that she is one tough cookie but the nicest, softest person you could ever meet... She is kicking mental illness butt and the stigma that goes with it. My mum is not ashamed of her journey and I couldnt be more proud of her. xxx
