I think that the evolutionary process, and evolutionary - TopicsExpress

I think that the evolutionary process, and evolutionary developments, are necessarily contingent. For the way I see it, life is not about Being , but rather Becoming. Living things never just are. Even simple single-celled organisms never just are, always self-contained and self-directed. No, it seems to be the case that everything which we consider to exist, even inanimate subjects, do things (and thus have agency). Subatomic particles to atoms to molecules to chemicals to cells and proteins to tissue and organs to complex living creatures, all contingent upon agency and the conditions which make agency possible. And thus, we can think of the necessary contingency which scientific thought supports, and be optimistic in our mutually intersubjective experience of existence and that which makes existence possible (whatever such a thing, things, or conditions that/those may be). I need more tea.
