I think the title has a misspelled word, should read, Indiana - TopicsExpress

I think the title has a misspelled word, should read, Indiana Stinks at Health. Indianas overall rank was 41 in the United Health Foundation report released in December. We guess this report is trying to steal some thunder from the more well known County Health Rankings. Dont expect our health rankings to improve in that one either. Muncie Voice has followed these and Gallups Well-Being index and Indiana ranks poorly in all of them. We have really bad personal habits: smoking, drinking booze, eating fast food, and sitting on the couch. Our corporations like to fill our air with pollutants, and dump toxins in our rivers. Our governor balks at the high infant mortality rates, but doesnt want to expand Medicaid. All the states around us are getting the federal dollars we put into Medicaid. Governor Mike Pence wants the Koch brothers to know he has their back and fights Obamacare - doesnt help Hoosiers one bit. You can advertise on buses and billboards all you want, but when your numbers suck like these, it reveals your marketing is just PR fluff. As Senator Joe Donnelly says, Employers are not impressed when your state is No. 41, 42, 43 in health,” he said. “We want to have a good business climate by having the right tax climate, but we also have to have the right educational climate. We have to have the right health climate. All of those things are critical.” This is an issue which requires policy, leadership and investment. This is costing us money in the short run and long term as well.
