I think this harmony between game elements is exactly the sort of thing that game narrative scholar Christopher Yap was referring to when he talked about the “synergistic effect emerging from all of its parts working in concert with each other” that he found in The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. (Yap also considers Shadow of the Colossus worthy of being included in the “canon” of video games as a medium, and I would enthusiastically agree.) Shadow of the Colossus is my proverbial Holy Grail. On a side note, it feels strange to see that my work is getting referenced. I mean, its nice and I am grateful for being able to expound on this very subject and especially this very game. Mind you, this article was referencing another article written by Jess Kroll for Pop Mythology (popmythology/zelda-as-important-as-beowulf-christopher-yap-interview/). The original article is actually something I will likely be referencing from now on to explain my chosen field. geekparty/black-mages-best-games-ever-shadow-of-the-colossus/
