I think what the internet babyboomers are totally inept to is that before yahoo chat, paltalk, myspace, facebook and a few popular others, there was mirc and geocities....msn was pay to play. Stated simply, most of the people you would see on profile sites were on mirc in whichever chatroom as for their default log in. It was all more interconnected and you had a lot more direct interaction with people where as today, theres a lot of deceit, fake accounts and lies. Im not saying it wasnt going on then but I am saying you couldnt be such a cunt without standing out because 80% of the world wasnt online. It was maybe 20-30% of the USA, Canada, Europe, Australia, Great Britain and all other countries were very spotted in who could afford a computer, where internet was available and again, who could afford internet. Of those percentages, a small percentage actively socialized through the internet so it was a pretty small community. You would easily bump into other people at various websites that enabled user interaction. These were the days you went online and Ashton Kutcher or Ron Howard or Macaulay Culkin or Tim Allen or whoever were on mirc yapping away with you. All of it changed due to Yahoo, Myspace and of course the cost of computers and internet plummeting.
