I thought I would explain a little more about the whole wine - TopicsExpress

I thought I would explain a little more about the whole wine selection process that I am currently a part of. The wine is being selected for an August 21st dinner benefitting Arts Outreach. The dinner is $1,000 per couple and the dinner is limited to only 24 guests. (We havent even printed the invitations yet and it looks like there is already going to be a waiting list because there are only 12 spots left.) The dinner is being entirely underwritten by one of the board members so 100% of the donation goes directly to Arts Outreach. The process of selecting the wine has kind of snowballed into something larger than I had anticipated. There are now six of us actually selecting the wines that will end up in the blind panel tasting on June 8. The June 8 blind tasting panel is made up of a combination of local wine geeks and a few pros. This year Syrah, as well as many of the other amazing varietals in the valley such as Roussane, Tempranillo, Grenache, Petite Sirah, etc. are not even being considered because we had to limit the number of courses. The valley has some of the best Syrahs so those will definitely be on next years menu. Here is the varietals we are choosing from for the 2014 dinner: Hors deouvres: Rose, Viognier and a Sparkling First Course: Sauvignon Blanc Second Course: Chardonnay Third Course: Pinot Noir Fourth Course: Cabernet Sauvignon Fifth Course: Some kind of dessert wine/port
