I thought I would post a few pics of my trip and the overriding truth that I observed while I was there. I preached a prayer camp. I preached much on desiring God and walking with God. The most common testimony as God worked in lives during the week was how God was convicting of sin, specific sins. I did not preach on specific sins but rather on seeking God. It was so clear that as we get closer to God, the Holy Spirit does not condone sin in our lives but convicts of sin, so that we might get closer to God and walk with Him in faith and power. It seems here in American Christianity the opposite is true. So many are attempting to prove their relationship with God by saying everything is legal and right to do, as though sin no longer exists in their lives. Clearly, the closer we get to the Lord the more sin in our lives is revealed. The question comes, Is this new movement of freedom really bringing us closer to God? 1 John 1:5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. 8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. The reasoning of course is that we do admit we are sinners so this passage does not apply to us but if on the other hand we deny that anything is sin any longer because we are under grace and freedom are we not effectively denying that we have sin in our lives. Sin in generalities is easy to admit, sin specifically is admitted through conviction by humility.
