I thought quite a few would find this interesting. Just a short train ride away and is on the 10th March at UCL. Owing to exceptional demand for this event, Why isnt my professor black? is moving to a bigger venue and more tickets are available for this previously sold out event. Please note there is a new start time of 6pm (not 5.30pm as previously advertised.) There are just 85 black British professors out of more than 18,510 in the UK and the number has barely changed in eight years. The percent of black professors (0.4%) shows a striking disparity with the proportion of black students, which has increased steadily each year and now stands at 6%. What does it mean when the generation that produces knowledge is so unrepresentative of the generation that consumes it? This panel debate will be chaired by Professor Michael Arthur, President and Provost of UCL. It will aim to ask difficult questions and explore even more challenging solutions. Panel members: · Dr William Ackah, Birkbeck, University of London · Dr Lisa Amanda Palmer, Newman University · Dr Shirley Tate, University of Leeds · Dr Nathaniel Adam Tobias Coleman, University College London · Nathan E Richards - Phd student at Goldsmiths and digital journalist Tickets are available here: uclequalities.wordpress/events-list/9070083865/
