I thought some people might like to see these interesting copper mining artifacts from the UP of Michigan. A friend of mine goes diving for these old drill bits. These bits and shafts are about 70 to 100 years old and are well preserved because they have been in the cold, fresh water since then. Bits recovered on land are usually quite corroded. The Seaman Museum in Houghton has exhibits that include these types of bits and specimens of drill scarred copper specimens. I think it is interesting to see the history of mineral discovery and recovery!
