I thought the music at the Oscars last night was generally first rate. MIss M was, as usual, divine. The gal singing Let It Go was great. And Pink gets a solid 10 for power and emotion. BUT we need to put a stop to the stylistic quirk of breathing in the middle of a word! It is not Somewhere O(breathe)ver the Rain(breathe)bow. Such practice detracts from the musical line. Breaths in the middle of words should never be necessary if there is proper support from the diaphragm. Why am I bothering to post this? Does anybody even care? Cranky old former soprano that I am, I DO. I find it every bit as annoying as Paul Pierce find the vocal fry.
