I took a HUGE step today!!! I put away the shower bench I have - TopicsExpress

I took a HUGE step today!!! I put away the shower bench I have been using for the last 5 months and stood in the shower myself. You are probably laughing right now. I never would have considered being able to stand in the shower a big deal. As a matter of fact, I just realized that the same thing happened last year after my foot surgery. I forgot that I had to sit for almost 2 months while I was in a cast. Well, after this, I can’t imagine forgetting for a couple reasons. My 86 year old ex-mother-in-law had a similar bench to the one I have been using of late. Each time I got in the shower I felt old and weak. The truth is I hated showering. If I knew I was going to be home, I wouldn’t shower daily. I hated how it made me feel emotionally. By nature I am a very clean person when it comes to personal hygiene so this has been very hard for me. When I looked at the bench this morning I decided I just couldn’t do it anymore. In an effort to save personal energy, I showered quickly but felt better than I have in 5 months getting out. I hope you don’t mind my openness about this. It was a very big step for me and a victory I wanted to share. You walked thru my having to get the bench and all the emotions surrounding that, so why not emancipation from the bench? OK…on to other nice things that happened today. I went to Nalley Toyota of Roswell for a 30k maintenance, an oil change and I didn’t know what else. $475 and 3 ½ hours later I walked out. I think this is the first time I spent money on maintenance. It has been under warranty until now. Even though I wasn’t planning on that expense, considering I’ve had the car for 2 ½ years, that isn’t bad. I brought my laptop and got tons of work done. A young lady sat next to me and she was doing some kind of neat craft project and, what a shock, I began chatting with her. To make a long story as short as I am capable of, she was making these very neat holders for sparklers for a friend’s wedding. She was making 300 of them, so obviously it was a good friend. She is going to be a brides maid. Wait, the story gets better. She is moving to Ft. Collins on Saturday to go to veterinary school. Guess who lives in Ft. Collins…a good friend’s FABULOUS daughter who is about the same age. I wrote her and said I met this neat lady and would she be willing to speak with her. Of course she said yes. Shireen, the lady moving to Colorado was so excited. She only knows one other person out there. They both love to hike and I think they just might become friends. I know it wasn’t a coincidence that we met and that I was able to introduce her to someone in Ft. Collins. As if that wasn’t enough to make for a wonderful day, the bell rang this afternoon and my mailman was standing there with a package for me. My friend Bonnie sent me the coolest pair of crazy leggings. I will post a picture when I wear them. I can’t wait to put them on…I’m not sure what will get more looks, the leggings or my bald head. Either way I will definitely get noticed. My contract is about up with Fireside Natural Gas so I called to renew. I have been with them for 3 years. I can’t begin to tell you want a pleasure they are to do business with. I was paying by bank draft and wanted to switch to credit card so I could get points. They didn’t accept credit cards at the time for auto draft and said they would let me know when they did. Sure enough, when they began doing that I got a call, not a letter. They explained how to make sure I am locking in the best price as well. If you need a natural gas company, consider switching to them. OK…enough advertising. I had enough energy to go to the grocery store. This is a big deal since I had a pretty busy day at work. When I got to the checkout counter a young lady that was bagging groceries greeted me with a big smile and friendly remark. She was the cashier the last time I was there and had a great time with her and two other ladies. She helped me out with my bags and we had a nice chat. I was sad to learn that she works 40-50 hours a week at Publix and doesn’t make enough to pay her rent. She has health challenges that limit where she can work, but she has an interview tomorrow. Please say a prayer if you would. Gd will know who you mean…you don’t need her name. When we were getting ready to say good bye she said that she saw the magnet on my door when she was outside and was happy to know I was in the store…that really made me feel special. I have magnets on my car door that say “You are special so be good to yourself today”. They are purple…I am sure you are shocked. Well, that’s my day other than doing some more work tonight. I really want to spend some time on crafts over the next few days. It has been too long since I did anything. It has been a great day…I hope you had a wonderful one as well. Hugs!!!
