I took a jeepney home two nights ago. There were lots of people waiting for a ride so it was immediately filled with people as it stopped. A lady in her mid-twenties came up. I appealed to the other passengers to move a little to make space for her. Nobody moved. The lady opted to sit in between the two rows as she was afraid there would be no more jeepneys coming. I asked again, still, nobody moved. I was expecting the younger guys to give her their seat, especially Machoman (a 20-something hottie, or he might be thinking he is) and Loverboy (a teenager who had the face of an angel and who was obviously frequenting the gym). Machoman just turned his head away and Loverboy continued eating his girlfriend. Disgusted, I gave my seat to the lady and sat on the steps. It was easy for me to give my seat up. I just imagined she was my Mother, one of my sisters, or one of my nieces. I am not posting this so people may clap their hands for me. I am posting this to shame so many who would rather see women suffer than offer help. In my mind I was thinking, p_ta, kun gwapa gani paduding dayon mga lalaki. Kun tambok gani, magdusa ka! Daw hambalan ko man ang nobya ni Loverboy, nan, pati-pati ka man da nga g_nghal ka sa bulatik nya, magtambok ka papungku-on ya ka man sina sa salog sang jeep.
