I took a little break over the weekend to celebrate Mothers Day - TopicsExpress

I took a little break over the weekend to celebrate Mothers Day with my mother and daughter, now back to talk to you, my friends. I am honored to have the opportunity to serve our alma mater through trusteeship, and I am honored that my fellow alumni have enough faith in me to put me on the board. Everything I have done for Penn State over the past two years has been with your help. Especially the campaign. I cannot name individuals because there are dozens upon dozens upon dozens of you, but you each have my profound gratitude. Team Alice has been a true grassroots effort, and our big win came as a result of enormous volunteer effort. My thanks to everyone who handed out cards and got people to vote; to the people who designed my website and FB page and billboard and lawn signs and business cards and flyers and ads; to those who edited all the materials I had to write; to those who advised me on campaign strategy and those who carried out the strategy; to the people who wrote those beautiful letters to the editor supporting my candidacy; to the friends who house me in State College; to the people who delivered my lawn signs, helped me put them up and take them down; to the people who contributed financially; to the photographers who somehow made me look great no matter what; to all of you who sent me notes of encouragement, often at times when I needed it because I was scared and overwhelmed; to the people who came to help me campaign at Blue-White game and hosted a tailgate for me; to the friends who became videographers on my behalf; to my family (especially my mother, who recruited all the aides and nurses in her assisted living facility to canvass for votes); to the people in my life who are not Penn Staters but helped me because they believe in me; to the new trustees for their ongoing counsel and support. Finally, enormous thanks to the people who worked tirelessly every day: Dave Ketchen, Matt Prisby, Helen Woodyard, Sharon Ferrell Ketchen, and Christine Leon -- you sacrificed your own lives for months to make this happen, your faith in me helped me grow into the role of candidate and now trustee, your patient and loving guidance saved me from mistakes over and over. I am humbled by the enormous support you have all provided and I hope you understand that I will succeed as trustee only with your continued partnership. I embark on this new adventure with faith and optimism, knowing that together we can accomplish anything.
