I took some time to revisit this image once again and it brought back a flood of memories!! The first week of April 2013 I drove out to Tranquility Ranch every single day, because it was foal season and I was hungry for some babies!! One of the gals, still very much pregnant, was up in a front pasture and the rest of the herd was out roaming the woods. I decided to follow my gut and go try to find them. (Yes, try....I think they have figured out how to hide from me and do it often!!) Imagine my great delight and excitement when the herd made their way out of the woods in a rush, setting the cow birds all aflutter....and there among them this baby, obviously several days old!!! (SNAP) I think that has got to be one of the most beautiful things I have ever been blessed to see. The pasture is long and narrow and fenced in only by trees leading into the woods on every side....it is where I first fell in love (with horses) and holds a genuinely special place in my heart. We traced back with clues and decided she had been born on the 1st, and thereby the name of April Fooled Scotch stuck instantly. When I finally calmed down enough to remember how to dial my phone, I made a call to the owners and let them know my find!! I was encouraged to drive the horses to the front of the property..... (SNAP) which strangely enough I was able to do, but getting them in a fence with my lack of knowledge and skill...NO way!!! Ms Cheyenne, in no uncertain terms let me know she was done putting up with my tomfoolery and gave me the stink eye while standing protectively with her baby. (SNAP) What a day, what a delightful set of memories, what a blessing this life I get to have!!! JD Waterhouse Photography
