I try to stay away from "issues statements" for the most part, but I do want to say how strongly I feel that it is very unfortunate when our elected officials will not operate within the limits of our laws. We have a legal system: in short, work very hard within the system for the passage of new laws in which you believe; work very hard within the system for the amendment or repeal of existing laws in which you don’t believe. Trying to work outside the bounds of the system when you haven’t succeeded in your goals threatens the entire basis of our legal system and can cause much more damage than that caused by any one or two laws of which you disapprove. Be careful who you elect – in addition to what your prospective lawmakers espouse, consider whether they will fight for you within the structure of law or whether they believe it’s acceptable to subvert the legal process.
