I typically am not confrontational when I reply or post to this page, but today I have taken more than I can handle without speaking out. To the idiot in the left turn lane of the Fred Meyers intersection to Main Street: you are supposed to stop BEHIND the white stop line, not with your REAR BUMPER on the intersection side of the white stop line with your entire vehicle completely covering the cross walk! I am sure the old man who was wishing to cross would have been quite appreciative if you had followed the rules of the road and exhibited a bit of common courtesy! And furthermore: you probably should not go around displaying your IQ via hand gesture in public; your IQ level of 1 is not something to be proud of, contrary to what your parents may have told you. And to the second idiot who ran a RED RED RED light turning off of 20th to head east onto Main Street.....there is NO PLACE you need to get to that is so important that it warrants running a red light on one of the busiest intersections in Battle Ground, or any intersection for that matter! Really people! It is high time we start driving like we actually have an ounce of common sense and respect for our fellow man!!! I witnessed a teacher have to use her vehicle to block traffic at the cross walk between Burgerville and the high school so a SPECIAL NEEDS student could cross safely because NOT ONE person would stop to allow this young lady to cross! Do we not understand that we have special needs students traveling by foot the sidewalks and crosswalks of our town as they are being trained to be self sufficient individuals and contributing members to society?!?!?! The habits of motorists in our community have gotten completely out of control! There is not ONE DAY that goes by where I do not witness either a pedestrian nearly get struck by a motorist, all while obeying the signs and signals established, a motorist blatantly run a red light, and the list goes on and on! I know there are people who make honest mistakes, but what I am witnessing is blatant and careless. I know there are kids who cross the streets in the wrong places and who do not necessarily utilize the cross walks appropriately; is it worth a life to give them what you think they deserve as I have heard people say of that? I have stopped and addressed kids who are crossing NOT via a cross walk between Dicks Tires and the Post Office. I stop and tell them their lives are not worth saving walking forty feet and I would really hate to see them get hit or struck by a motorist. Honestly, I could go on and on as this is a HUGE problem in our community. I dont know who else to address that can make a difference than the citizens themselves. It is EVERYWHERE at every cross walk and intersection in this town. I see it over and over many times each and every day! People have been hit. It is going to result in a tragic death. A life is not worth the few seconds you save. I beg, please, everyone become more conscientious in our driving practices. I apologize if this post offends and I am sure if it is contrary to the rules of posting it will be taken down, but I simply cannot stay silent any longer. Thank you.
