I use jars for drinking out of, for vases, and for storing - TopicsExpress

I use jars for drinking out of, for vases, and for storing everything from nuts, seeds, and flours, to stocks, jams, and broths. (I dont have one of those cupboards full of plastic containers that fall out whenever you open it. I have a cupboard full of jars instead - ha ha!!) Lots of readers have asked where I buy my mason jars from. I have bought the cheaper versions from $2 type shops, and also have some of the good old-fashioned ones that have been passed down from mum and Gma. But I also just save jars to use - any jars will do. And I get the large storage jars from cheap shops, kitchen shops, and op shops - theyre great for the counter tops. (Re freezing as as few have asked: I freeze soups and broths either in jars, or in glass dishes with the plastic locking lids - just leave an inch or so at the top for the liquid to expand. My bulk goods I store in the bags they come in - big 12.5kg bags go straight into the bottom of my freezer (its a chest freezer), and the smaller bags on top or in the baskets that sit in the top of the freezer.) Where do you buy your jars from? Any tips? {Note: the Savoury Seed Mix in the left hand photo is a recipe in my #quirkycookbook - good to have in a jar on the counter for when you feel the need for a quick snack!}
