I used to believe that our world could not sustain life if people all over the world became industrialized and modern. Mostly, I believed that because of the pollution and lack of energy resources that would occur if more people had purchasing power and expanded consumerism. My theory was based on the use of fossil fuel for traveling and shipping, heating and manufacturing, but if it is truly possible to rely only on renewable energy, then the next 100 years will dramatically change the quality of life for the entire human race.
