I used to review very often on zomato. Not for any leaderboard or point system as I only found out about that system recently. I reviewed places because of my love for food. In the past few months I noticed a strange shift in the qualities of many reviews. I addressed this as due with the PR person of zomato and she assured me things would get sorted. I told her then that Id be happy to review as soon as they get their act together. The only review Ive posted on zomato after that interaction was for the horrific situation I found myself in at the Brooklyn Shuffle Diner. I made that an exception as my review was not a regular one. It was meant as a warning for potential customers. So imagine my surprise when I find this little gem in my inbox today: ▼ Hide quoted text On 5 Aug 2014 17:27, Apoorv Ahlawat wrote: Hi Natasha, Thank you for using Zomato! It is active foodies like you who make the Zomato experience worthwhile for other users. We understand that you would like to share the experience that you had at the restaurant 11 East Street Cafe, East Street. But due to certain legal implications, we have had to moderate the review and remove the part that mentioned Hookah/Sheesha being served by the restaurant. We hope that as part of the Zomato foodie community you will understand and appreciate this. Thanks & Regards, Apoorv Ahlawat I replied: I do not think it is ethical to edit a review written by someone else especially if its accurate. There are too many issues that have made me stop being active on zomato as a reviewer as I think your integrity as a company is in question for me. So yes I do mind that you edit a review Ive written. How ridiculous can this company get?
