I usually dont like ranting... but I need to tonight. This evening, I went to enjoy the Anchorage Civic Orchestra tonight with my sisters. During the first half of the concert my two younger sisters were taking notes on the concert when suddenly, an usher (well call her gru-la, due to her similar appearance to Gru of Dispicable Me) came in the MIDDLE of the performance telling them to turn off the phone and to stop being a distraction. We were sitting in the front to get a good view of my other sister (who was performing) and we were the only few people that sat near the front. I was totally shocked and speachless. My sisters were quietly analyzing the performance when Gru-la comes walking across the front to tell them to stop being a distraction? Thats public embarassment, public humiliation and not professional. I mean seriously... in the middle of the movement? If she came inbetween one of the movements, I dont care. But while the Anchorage Civic Orchestra is performing? Unacceptable and very rude. To the audience, the performers, and to me. I approached her during the intermission telling her that I wasnt very pleased with her behavior and all she kept saying was thank you, thank you, thank you without even looking at me. Once again, extremely disrepectful. My little sister was in a bad mood because of her and became scared to do anything and Gru-la wouldnt say anything but thank you? Also, not to poke fingers at others... but I couldnt help but notice that there was other children causing commotion during the performance. Why didnt she tell them to stop? Why did Gru-la have to walk across the front, in the middle of a movement, to tell us to stop being a distraction? I smell racism. (And sensed it with all my other senses) I filed a complaint after the show because it ruined my night. Its disrespectful and very childish for Gru-la to treat my sisters with that kind of disrespect. Not only being a distraction to me and my night, but a distraction to everyone else who went to watch the performance. Besides this minor incident... good performance tonight! well done! #anchoragecivicorchestra #rant
