I voted no on the Holt of NJ Amendment 8 to #HR4487, which transfers $2.5 million from the House Historic Buildings Revitalization Trust Fund to the Office of Technology Assessment (OTA). The OTA, which used to provide scientific and technical analysis to Congress, was shut down in 1995 because it was determined that Congress had many other sources of information and the OTAs analysis was duplicative and unnecessary. This is still true. We shouldnt reinstitute defunct offices that are likely to consume significantly more resources over time. The amendment was not agreed to 164-248.
