I waited a day to lay out 2015. The roast pork was awesome, as was the Winter Classic and college football. I am one of those people who likes to set goals or make resolutions. I think its important for all of us to strive to be better than we were yesterday. The New Year, for me at least, acts a great motivator, because goals are essentially dreams with deadlines. I work better under pressure- the most of it which comes from me. When its all said a done, we are here to make a difference. Make an impact. Besides the obvious of getting healthier in diet and fitness, imbibing less and continuing to learn to deal with stress in a more healthier manner, I am challenging myself to certain ideals. Some may be just wishful thinking but these are areas in which I have been thinking about most. Feel free to comment and share yours as well 1. Continue to be a Father that I am proud of. Raising good people I believe should be at the forefront for everyone. 2. Get more involved in charitable endeavors. Whether it be emceeing for important events and causes, donating money, or joining an organization- it is our duty to serve one another. 3. Live in the moment, not in the rear view mirror. Whatever happened yesterday is gone. Those who do not learn from history, are sure to repeat it. 4. Clarify my professional path. As it stands, Im holding down a full time job while keeping the media career alive with many endeavors; 97.5, Flyerdelphia, Saint Josephs, Quizzo hosting, writing, etc...Its a time consuming and it needs some streamlining. 5. Through all, above all, be grateful. No matter what the challenge that lay ahead, Im sure to better off than most struggling around the world. 6. Embrace my faith more fervently. As I have aged (like a fine, er good wine) I have realized that my faith in God has been comforting and has been a valuable compass. 7. Calmness must rule. Especially when in traffic, dealing with opposing opinions, Cowboy fans, political rhetoric and ignorant people. Serenity now. 8. Get busy with the bucket list, Plan adventure and travel and do the things that Ive always wanted to do. Continue to experience the unknown. (legally :) 9. Become more financially sound. Chip away at the debt, while keeping an eye on saving for what is ahead, This is the wishful thinking part I was talking about. 10. See the good in everything. In people, in work, in life. Because the negative stuff is just to damn tiring to deal with. Thats it- I wish 2015 is a year of health, happiness and prosperity for all of you and one that makes your world a better place. Some quotes and readings to start 2015: “The present changes the past. Looking back you do not find what you left behind.” ― Kiran Desai, The Inheritance of Loss “And that is how change happens. One gesture. One person. One moment at a time.” ― Libba Bray, The Sweet Far Thing There Is Another Sky By Emily Dickinson One of Emily Dickinsons most well known poems. The precise meaning of the poem is a matter of opinion. Check it out. This Day In Philadelphia Sports - Youll love it -Brian Startare and Kevin Reavy And Finally.... Be at war with your vices, at peace with your neighbors, and let every new year find you a better man. Benjamin Franklin
