I wake up this morning with a hope, a hope that we the people of Liberia can acknowledge very soon that making Liberia a better place is the responsibility of every Liberian and not few individuals. We need to walk away from the blame-game and start to see ourselves as equal and principal participants as the President, Chief-Justice, Speaker, Senate Pro-temp, Commissioners, Executive Directors, Superintendents, Investors and Entrepreneurs to the national development drive of Liberia. Make no mistake people, the developmental sojourn of Liberia is an inclusive endeavor and requires the full participation of the 3.6 million inhabitants, fifteen political sub-divisions and eleven tribes. The feat of making Liberia a better place can only be achieved if we start to be more committed and honest to what we signed up for. Additionally, we also need to stop appreciating other countries and start to treasure this ‘blessed’ and ‘rich’ land of ours. I am strongly convinced that it is not late for Liberia; we still have the chance to make this place what we want it to be by ensuring through a collective mechanism that every individual is committed and sincere to the cause of development. It’s saddening to know that significant portion of the population perceived that they can only make a better life for themselves on a different shore far from Liberia. In truth, you can’t blame them for harboring such mindset, because the level playing field has not been provided that will enable everyone to have a taste and make maximum use of the national cake. We need to stop considering Liberia as a farm, and instead view it as a child, that we are responsible for it well-being and development. If you promised your country something, you need to do it. Words don’t express your love; you got to prove it through deeds. You can’t keep saying you love Liberia and yet you are doing little to ensure that it gets better. In conclusion, we are not at liberty to leave this country without making it a better place for future generations. #I am proud to be a Liberian#
