I walked from econ to Vinzons in the pouring rain today because I didnt have an umbrella, and when I got to the boarding area for the Katipunan jeep there was an unholy line. I went to the end of the line, of course, and I stood there for a bit in the rain with my head bowed when the woman in front of me said, Hala, wala kang payong? And she moved two steps so her umbrella could cover both of us. We stood there for about half an hour, waiting for the line to move forward. When there was a call for one more passenger in a departing jeep, she nudged me and said, O isa na lang daw! Mauna ka na. Thank you, wonderful stranger, for being my angel today. I dont know a single thing about you (not even your name), but please know that you were an actual blessing for me today. I resolve to pay it forward -- I hope that somehow this is enough thanks for your kindness. My faith in humanity was restored tenfold today.
