I want a clear sign Question: I am suffering from questions from shaytan from 2 years. I lost my faith in Allah because of it. Now I am not able to believe in Allah. I tried forcing myself but the questions dont let me believe . I did the remedy of our prophet but I guess it was too late. My heart demands a sign to believe. I made myself to believe in signs like sun ,moon ,earth etc. But it last for only sometime and the situation is the same. Can I ask Allah to send me food from heaven as a sign. I really want to sincerely become a strong believer. Answer: In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh. Allah Ta‘āla from His infinite mercy has always produced signs and miracles at the hands of the Anbiyaa’ and Rusul He selected for the mission of calling people to His Deen. The miracles He revealed were normally relevant and suited to their time and place. For example, in the time of Mūsa (‘alayhissalām), magicians were respected and revered, so Allah gave Mūsa the miracle of the staff turning into a serpent and other similar miracles. Other prophets were likewise given equally extraordinary miracles. However, despite these obvious miracles, not everyone believed in them and accepted them as Prophets of Allah. Pharaoh persisted in his disbelief, although the truth was demonstrated to him again and again by means of great miracles and signs. The reason for this is that Allah had sealed their hearts, just as He mentions in the Qur’an (2:7, 45:23) At the time of the Prophet Muhammad (sallAllāhu ‘alayhi wasallam), poetry was what people loved and revered most. Hence, the Qur’an came down in a language that has no parallel. Its unique prose, powerful language and striking metaphors and similes, along with its extraordinary meaning and message, is a literary achievement that was unparalleled and miraculous. Many of the Arabs who prided themselves in their language and poetry realised that this could not be the words of man and embraced Islam merely upon hearing the verses of the Qur’an. But the Qur’an is not limited to their time and place, and it holds miracles for us even today. Many extraordinary and miraculous aspects of the Qur’an have only recently been unearthed, like the numerical and mathematical miracles of the Qur’an. Allah’s miracles are always in view, and His signs are everywhere, for those whose hearts are not sealed. The disbelievers in the time of the Prophet (sallAllāhu ‘alayhi wasallam) demanded to see clear miracles presented before them, and Allah answered them in the Qur’an by saying: “If We had sent down to them angels, and the dead had spoken to them, and We had gathered everything before them face to face, still, they were not to believe, unless Allah would have so willed” (6:11) And He said: “Even if We open a gate in the sky and they keep ascending through it, still they will say, ‘In fact our eyes have been deluded; rather we are enchanted people.’” (15:14-5) He also said: “Verily, those on whom the word of your Lord stands settled will not believe even if every sign came to them.” (10:96-7) Hence, there is no guarantee even if every sign is presented that one will believe, unless his heart is open to the guidance from Allah and Allah chooses to give him guidance. When a person uses his brain, and ponders upon the manifestations of Allah in His creation, and realises the majesty of Allah, that itself is a great miracle based on īmān bil ghayb (belief in the unseen). Make du‘a sincerely to Allah to open your heart to His guidance and ask Him to protect you from the whisperings of shaytan.
