I want to expand on Connies suggestion to go see the new Nicholas - TopicsExpress

I want to expand on Connies suggestion to go see the new Nicholas Cage movie: Left Behind (LB). I would ask all of my believer friends to see the movie and if you agree with what I am writing here, please share it...no threats or You aint a man if you dont see it stuff, however! I thought the movie was well made, and it has the flavor of those 1970s movies before Hollywood could special effect us into a thats awesome! without that much being there to watch besides those effects...but I digress. Whether you are a preterist, a partial preterist, an amillennialist, a post trib rapturist, a pretrib rapturist, or any other flavor of eschatology-ist, this movie is a witnessing opportunity. I havent read any reviews (I leave that to Joey & Chuckie), but I would be surprised if the technical and acting aspects are criticized (then again Kevin Sorbo took a lot of heat for his portrayal of an atheist in Gods Not Dead, although as an actor playing a part and following a script, I think he did a great job). Oops, I digress again! Anyway I envision the conversation: Believer: Went to see LB and it was good. You should see it. Friend: I dont want to go see a movie that is going to preach at me. B: Actually for the 1st half of the movie. it is the Christian people who are being put down. F: Really? B: Yeah, the premise is that the Bs are wacko, but that they are actually right. The way that plays out is in a lot of action scenes that result from their premise being right, the whole world gets dramatically affected, and the survivors have to deal with figuring out the why and how. Meanwhile, there is impending disaster for the surviving central cast, and it is quite entertaining the way that plays out. Not sure how the conversation goes from there, but with a little help from the HS, Fs will have to deal with how they feel about the possibility of theyre being a rapture and what it would mean to them. You can then share what it is you do believe over a non-threatening topic. It is just a movie! Do keep in mind one thing: Belief in a rapture where you are taken to heaven is not a requirement for you to go to heaven. Always make that clear. Jesus never said believe in a certain set of rules or a theology. He said, Believe on me, and I am the (underline the the) way and the truth and the life. Jesus rules out Oprahs All paths lead to God, but he does not specify end times doctrine (the eschatology I mentioned above) as a requirement for spending eternity in His presence. So, like J. Vernon McGee used to say: You can agree with them (those that do no accept a pretribulation rapture), but if you wanna be right, you will wanna agree with me.. You will also be in agreement with a host of others including John MacArthur and James McDonald. But dont forget John Piper and Richard Owen Roberts are some pretty respected folks who do not share the belief. Again: Discuss for Gods glory, but dont divide over the detail of the rapture. However, if you dont accept it, let me know and I will leave you something of mine for you to receive after I have left in the rapture! The Youtube site below gives a 14 minute synopsis by MacArthur if you are interested in the detail behind LBs premise: https://youtube/watch?v=EYEeb2ysy6U
