I want to immensely thank all those who have taken time to post Birthday wishes on my time-line. Indeed, the love that you people have shown towards me is awfully amazing. I wish I was in a position to reciprocate the love but all the same, I thank you and also wish to reiterate a comment I had made previously that I respect and highly esteem all my acquaintances. However, this Birthday will be devoid of all the pomp and glamour that surround such social events. It will be devoid of a Birthday cake, devoid of candles and the traditional stuff. This is because instead of celebrating my life, I want to celebrate the life of a mentor, a friend, a role model who was equally a member of my extended family. Mark Anthony Oduor lost his life on the night before Saturday when he, among other immigrants, attempted to cross over to Italy from Egypt. He died a painful death in the cold icy waters of the Mediterranean It is such a profound loss to the family and to those who loved him like I. But even though the circumstances that surrounded his death are quite saddening, I want to draw some valuable lessons from him. This is a man who resolved to overcome anything that stood between him and his goals in life. He made a dangerous trek across the Sahara to Egypt and then took another potentially hazardous trip across the Mediterranean! He wanted a better future for himself and he decided to pursue it at all costs. we should never let anything stand in our way between us and our destiny. Be it Mount Everest or even the Atlantic, we should ever be relentless in our pursuit of what we believe in. As I turn 19 today, I make it a decision to overcome anything that might stand between me and my destiny. To all my friends, I want to give you the assurance that you are associating with a great Man! A man who will rewrite History and achieve important milestones towards improving humanity. You are all characters in this important and amazing script I am writing and together we shall overcome! I thank you once again for your Love! God bless you!
