I want to inform one important thing to our new generations that, Our topmost national leaders of both Awami League and BCL during 1970-1971 - who were pioneer and in forefront in our great Liberation and Independent war - did not received any heroic war medal like “Beer Shrestha”, “Beer Uttom”, “Beer Proteek”. After the 4 national leaders and Ministers of exile Govt (Syed Nazrul Islam as Acting President, Tajuddin Ahmed as Prime Minister, Ministers Capt Mansur Ali, AHM Quamruzzaman, Kh. Mustaq & others), Nucleus & BLF (Mujib Bahini) leaders of AL - BCL (Sirajul Alam Khan, Moni Vai, Razzak Vai, Tofael Vai, Arif Vai ), 4 KHOLIFA, NA Siddiqui, ASM Rab, S Siraj, AK Makhan Vai also did not received any such medal! Even Capt. Sheikh Kamal who worked as the ADC of General Osmani the Commander-in-Chief of the Mukti Bahini, during the Liberation War of Bangladesh (whose colleague in 1971 Capt Noor got BP), & Sheikh Jamal, who also participated many war, also not received any medal. But all top majors, Like Major Safiullah, Major Zia, Major Khaled, Major Taher, Major Rafiq etc all got such war medals . Even General Osmani did not get any, being Chief and boss of them, as he was an AL MP & Minister in 1971-75). But, pl note that, the very low ranking BCL leader like Kader Siddiqui got such medal. But above top leaders, did not have. SAK Dada, Rob and few other top AL & BCL leaders raised their queries in a meeting with Bangabandhu and requested for such medal. Then Bangabandhu, told them and all other top AL & BCL leaders that (who were asking for that), "The people who give ‘medal’ do not receive the ‘medal’"! What a greatest sacrifice they had done by our all topmost national leaders & Youth-Student leaders of both Awami League and BCL during 1970-1971 - who were the pioneer and in forefront in our great Liberation and Independent war, including Bangabandhu. This was a very rare incident! But Pakistani military authority and govt did not made any mistake, to seize their property and life term jail and other punishment to most of them during 1971 war, in their absence! These are all history!
